Anecdote from an article on my dad in Pic Magazine (June 1990) :
In the White Horse whisky ad, the red-haired model chosen for the bath was Paulene Stone, who was quite cooperative, given that the horse was breathing down her neck.
And even though we had a bucket handy, the horse managed to make a terrible mess on the carpet, which was frustrating because we could see it reflected in the mirror! We had to pay for a new carpet. That’s one of the things about advertising—you end up with all sorts of ridiculous bills.
On the bright side, we brought in a smoke machine to veil the mess, and in my view, it became the true magic of the shot. The ethereal haze not only covered the blemishes but also added a touch of mystery and allure, transforming the moment into something unforgettable.
