Michael was commissioned to take the Nivea now in tubs series of photos, the art director was Paul Arden, who was Creative Director at Saatchi & Saatchi at the time.
It is possible to spot the similarities with the famous Ingrès painting of the baigneuse. An artist makes his own interpretation from his personal inspiration – one could spot similarities with the work by Man Ray – a picture of a lady seen from behind with an added pair of symbols to make her back appear like a violin.
